TECH CRUNCH - Telegram founder Pavel Durov said that he wants to integrate web3 into the messaging app. He noted that Telegram can replicate TON Project's - an independent project not affiliated with Telegram - auction on the app by putting custom usernames, group, and channel links on the auction on blockchain - just like NFTs. The Telegram founder also mentioned that the company is "inclined to try out TON" as a blockchain of choice for Telegram given its familiarity with the technology.

TECH CRUNCH - Telegram has amassed ~700M MAU and is rolling out a premium tier with additional features as the instant messaging platform pushes to monetize a portion of its large user base. Telegram Premium enables users to send files as large as 4GB (up from 2GB) and supports faster downloads, for instance. Paying customers will also be able to follow up to 1K channels, up from 500 offered to free users, and create up to 20 chat folders with as many as 200 chats in each. Telegram Premium users will also be able to add up to 4 accounts in the app and pin up to 10 chats.

COINDESK - Apr 13 - Telegram is close to fully repaying investors in its TON (Telegram Open Network) blockchain effort nearly a year after settling allegations it violated U.S. securities law in raising ~$1B for the project. Telegram is preparing to launch an IPO in 2023, aiming for a $30M to $50M valuation. The IPO will benefit the buyers of Telegram's bonds, which the company sold in February to raise $1 billion. The debt sale, in turn, came right in time for earlier Telegram investors' payday, as the company is closing the book on its $1.7B token sales three years ago. Telegram started to pay back the last investors who didn't withdraw their investments right away in 2020.
