TECH IN ASIA - July 16 - India-based Inshorts, an eponymous news app and a hyperlocal social network called Public, has raised $60M in funding. The startup has secured $140M in the last year from investors. Founded in 2013, Inshorts is an app that curates news items across categories and has ~10M MAU. The two-year-old Public app allows users to record and share happenings in their cities or towns. Public has ~50M active users who upload 1M videos every month.
