Phhhoto sued Meta arguing that it liked Phhhoto's idea so much, it decided to disenfranchise the young company and eventually launch an identical feature which Meta called "Boomerang" and integrated into its Instagram app. The social media platform operator contends that Phhhoto's antitrust claim is time-barred because all of the challenged conduct occurred more than 4 years before Phhhoto sued.

TECH CRUNCH - Phhhoto is suing Meta over allegations that the company's behavior violated antitrust laws by cutting off the app's access to its social graph, slow-walking a proposed relationship and then eventually releasing its own copy of Phhhoto's core feature: the seconds-long looping video. The app, Phhhoto, launched in 2014, inviting users to create and share short GIF-like videos like Instagram's Boomerang.
