TECH CRUNCH - A newly popular Twitter alternative Hive has taken the fairly radical step of fully shutting down its servers for a couple of days in response to concerns raised by security researchers who discovered several critical vulnerabilities. The issues they found would allow attackers access to all data, including private posts and messages, shared media, and even deleted direct messages, as well as the ability to edit other people's Hive posts.

THE INDEPENDENT - Hive Social, a new alternative to Twitter, is seeing a huge surge in popularity as people look to flee Elon Musk's social network. Hive borrows much of the same design as Twitter and also looks similar to Instagram, with the option to share large images on those news feeds. Users can choose a song to play on their profile page, for instance, just as was offered on MySpace - though Hive does so by borrowing from Apple Music.

DISTRACTIFY - Feb 4 - The Hive Social app is a new social media platform for gen Z that aims to be similar to Instagram, but without the annoying ads and finicky algorithm. Hive was created and is run by a woman named Kassandra (@honeyxmua on Twitter). According to Hive's Twitter account, they gained ~130k followers overnight. According to a feature on Hive on Her Paper Route, Hive seems to be trying to democratize the social media experience, making it so anyone can monetize off of their account, and they'll be given much more freedom to do so. This is why, allegedly, a lot of influencers are really interested in Hive.
