TECH CRUNCH - Twitter is purging inactive accounts that have had "no activity at all for several years," potentially freeing up coveted usernames. Twitter had an inactive account policy in place but had not made a large-scale effort to put usernames back into rotation until now. Elon Musk, owner of Twitter, clarified that a lot of usernames would become available as a result of this move, but did not specify how users could acquire them beyond creating a new account.
