TECHNODE GLOBAL - Newborn Town, a global social networking company, announced its unaudited operating figures for Q3 of 2022. The Company's revenue is expected to reach ~$290M in the Q3, up ~25% YoY. Among that, revenue from the social networking business is expected to reach RMB 1.91B to 1.94B, an increase of ~36% compared with the same period in 2021.

BUSINESS CLOUD - Twitter founder Jack Dorsey's Bluesky is building a new social network which will allow users to move their accounts between providers. Renamed Authenticated Transfer Protocol - or AT Protocol for short - it is described as a federated social network with integrated decentralised technologies. AT Protocol will allow users to move their account between providers as "a person's online identity should not be owned by corporations".

THE VERGE - Apple has reinstated VKontakte on the App Store after the company provided proof that it's not "majority owned or controlled by a sanctioned entity." The company removed the VK-owned social network VKontakte, email app Mail.ru, and others last month in response to sanctions the UK put on the financial institutions that own the Russian firm.

TECH CRUNCH - Whon Namkoong, the co-CEO of Kakao, has resigned in a remarkable demonstration of corporate accountability after a fire incident at an SK C&C data center in the south of Seoul caused a mass outage over the weekend and disrupted Kakao's several services, including messenger, ride-hailing, payment, banking and gaming. The company plans to invest ~$325M to build its own data center from next year, aiming to complete it in the following year.

TECH CRUNCH - Reddit CPO Pali Bhat revealed that ~3M Redditors have used Reddit's Vault blockchain wallet to create ~3M crypto wallets to date. Most of those - 2.5M - were created to purchase NFT avatars that can be used as profile pics on the platform, he said.

BBC - The UK's competition watchdog has reissued an order to Meta to sell animated images platform Giphy. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said this ruling was final, after going back and forth with the tech giant since its decision was first announced last year. The CMA found that the takeover of the gif-creation website could harm social media users and advertising.

It is focused specifically on educational content for teenagers. In just a few weeks, Revyze managed to attract 35K downloads. MASHABLE - Kanye West, or Ye as he is now known, is buying Parler, a controversial social media network touting itself as a "free speech" alternative to platforms like Twitter. The app has only just been restored to the Google Play Store, after being removed for posts inciting violence during the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. Ye's acquisition will "further lead the fight to create a truly non-cancelable environment". The deal is expected to close towards the end of this year.

PANDAILY - The official website of ByteDance-owned online social platform Feiliao (or Flipchat in English) has recently been shut down and download channels have been closed, although any official suspension announcement has yet to be made. Feiliao was launched in 2019 as a collection of instant messaging software and hobby-based communities, dedicated to helping users find more friends with similar interests.

TECH CRUNCH - TikTok is raising the age requirement for hosting livestreams on its platform, as well as launching adult-only livestreams. Starting on November 23, users will have to be 18 years old in order to go live on the platform. As for the adult-only livestreams, TikTok plans to roll those out in the coming weeks.

VARIETY - Elon Musk is being investigated by federal authorities over his "conduct" in connection with his proposed Twitter acquisition, according to a letter from the company's lawyers filed with the Delaware Chancery Court.
